Writing은 ‘써보는 것’에서 끝나지 않습니다.
MES는 TOEFL식 Academic Writing의 논리 구조를 응용하여, 학생이 Introduction → Body 1 → Body 2 → Conclusion의 흐름으로 최소 4문단 이상의 글을 완성하도록 지도합니다. 주장과 이유, 근거와 예시를 연결하고, 첨삭을 반영해 다시 쓰는 과정까지 하나의 학습으로 관리합니다.

Why Reading Every Day Is Important
Reading every day is one of the best habits a student can build. Some students think reading is only important for school tests, but I believe it helps us in many parts of life. Reading for twenty minutes can teach us new words and ideas.
First, reading helps us improve our vocabulary naturally. When we meet a new word in a story, we can often guess its meaning from the sentences around it. For example, I learned the word “responsible” while reading about a boy who had to take care of his younger sister. Because I understood the situation, I remembered the word better than when I simply memorized it from a list.
Second, reading helps us understand people and situations that are different from our own. A book can take us to another country, another time, or another person’s point of view. This can make us more curious and open-minded. It also gives us ideas that we can use when we speak or write in English.
For these reasons, I think students should make reading part of their daily routine. We do not have to read for hours. If we choose an interesting book and read a little every day, the small habit can slowly make us stronger readers, better writers, and more thoughtful people.
Should Students Have Less Homework?
Homework is an important part of learning because it gives students a chance to review what they studied in class. However, more homework does not always mean more learning. I believe schools should give students a reasonable amount of meaningful homework rather than simply increasing the number of assignments.
First, good homework should have a clear learning purpose. For example, after a grammar lesson, students may benefit from solving a small number of carefully selected questions and explaining why each answer is correct. This requires them to remember the rule and apply it. In contrast, completing several pages of almost identical questions can become mechanical. Students may finish the work quickly without thinking about what they are actually practicing.
Second, students need enough time outside school to develop other useful habits. Reading books, exercising, reviewing mistakes, and planning their own study schedule can all support academic growth. If every evening is filled with required worksheets, students may have little time to decide what they personally need to study. They can also become tired and lose motivation, which makes the homework less effective.
This does not mean that homework should disappear. Some practice is necessary, especially when students are learning difficult skills. However, teachers should focus on the quality and purpose of each assignment. When homework is carefully designed and limited to what students truly need, it can strengthen learning while still leaving room for rest, curiosity, and independent study.
How Social Media Changes the Way We Communicate
Social media has changed the way people communicate more quickly than almost any other technology. It allows us to send messages, share ideas, and react to events within seconds. This speed can make communication easier, but it can also make conversations more shallow or emotional. In my view, social media improves communication only when people use it thoughtfully.
One clear advantage of social media is accessibility. Students can ask classmates questions, exchange information for group projects, and stay connected with friends who live far away. People with unusual interests can also find communities that may not exist in their local area. In these situations, social media can create valuable connections and make information easier to share.
However, online communication often removes important parts of face-to-face conversation. We cannot always hear a speaker’s tone or see facial expressions, so short messages can be misunderstood. In addition, people may respond immediately when they are angry because social media encourages fast reactions. A disagreement that might be solved calmly in person can become a public argument when many people comment before understanding the full situation.
Another problem is that online platforms often reward short and dramatic messages. Complex ideas are difficult to explain in a few sentences, while emotional opinions can spread quickly. As a result, users may read only headlines or brief posts instead of checking evidence and considering different viewpoints. This can create confidence without real understanding.
Therefore, using social media well requires more than knowing how to use an app. People need patience, empathy, and critical thinking. Before posting or replying, we should consider whether we understand the other person, whether our information is reliable, and whether our words will improve the conversation. Technology can connect people, but the quality of communication still depends on the choices people make.
Who Should Be Responsible for Reducing Plastic Waste?
Plastic waste is often described as a problem caused by careless consumers. Individuals are told to use reusable cups, refuse plastic bags, and recycle more carefully. These actions are valuable, but they cannot solve the problem by themselves because consumers make choices inside a system created by companies and governments. Reducing plastic waste therefore requires shared responsibility.
Individuals have an important role because everyday habits influence demand. When consumers carry reusable bottles, avoid unnecessary packaging, or choose refillable products, they reduce some waste directly. Their choices can also show businesses what customers value. Personal responsibility matters because large social changes often begin with repeated individual choices.
However, consumers have limited power when sustainable options are expensive or unavailable. A shopper cannot choose plastic-free packaging if every product is wrapped in disposable material. For this reason, companies have a greater responsibility to redesign products and packaging. Businesses can reduce unnecessary plastic, invest in reusable systems, and consider what happens to a product after it is sold.
Governments are also necessary because voluntary action alone may not change an entire industry. They can set packaging standards, improve recycling systems, require clear environmental information, and make producers responsible for part of the cost of waste. Well-designed rules can create fair conditions so that companies investing in sustainable systems are not placed at a disadvantage.
Some people argue that stricter rules increase prices and limit consumer choice. This concern should be considered, especially for small businesses and low-income households. However, the environmental cost of plastic does not disappear simply because it is not included in a product’s price. Governments can introduce rules gradually and provide support during the transition.
In conclusion, blaming only consumers oversimplifies the problem. Individuals can change habits, companies can redesign the products people are offered, and governments can build rules and infrastructure that make responsible choices practical. The most effective solution is not to decide which group is guilty, but to create a system in which all three groups have both the responsibility and the ability to reduce waste.
